When the trading war is easing, the sportswear industry is working hard to response this. The market appears to be more sophisticated than ever surrounded by more uncertain national circumstances, higher standards for materials and more diverse consumer demand. However, we believe that there are more opportunities hiding in these challenges.

This week, Arabella has once again summarized more news from the clothing industry for you. Hope you dig more of your treasures while enjoying morning tea.

Supported by the believes from sportswear enterprises, policies and sports games at the same time, China’s sportswear market sees a promising growth in the following. According to the report, outwear and sweatsuits are 2 main product types standing in the breach.

Combining high-performance and traditional British style, this clothing line will be able to support low-impact sports, such as yoga and pilates, to high-impact activities like padel games, running and high-intensity Hyrox workouts.

The new collection will contain varsity t-shirts, crop tops, yoga pants by using jacquard and nylon-spandex material, comes with UV-protection.

Fabrics

(June 6th) A major 4-year research led by North Carolina University has demonstrated that merino wool has a superior thermal regulation while maintaining high performance on moisture management. The research again confirmed that the merino wool’s outstanding equilibrium on heat and moisture management is not just a theory but a truth.

The probability that merino wool might revolutionize the fabric markets in sportswear increased due to this research and recent consumer demand. However, compared to common synthetic fibers, its price and production time still are barriers waiting to be overcomed by the clothing industry. Usually, fabric suppliers tend to blend it with synthetic fibers such as polyester, nylon and spandex to balance fabric properties.

Policy

(June 12th) The US President Donald Trump said the US has reached a trade pact with China on export of rare earth minerals and magnets. At the same time, the total tariffs on imports from China would be 55%. The pact is still waiting for the final approval by President Xi and Trump, said Trump on the social media.

At the same time, he said Washington will consider to make concessions on the allowance of Chinese students into the US.
