Markets & Policies
The U.S. President Donald Trump stressed that his recent tariff policies are aiming to support domestic manufacturing of military and technology instead of clothing. He indicated that he agreed to standpoints declared by the U.S. treasury minister Scott Bessent about manufacturing , who said the U.S manufacturing sees no necessity to develop anymore.
His comments has ignited an uproar and discontents in the clothing industry. The president of American Clothing & Footwear Community stressed that 97% apparel and shoes are imported and tariffs are causing higher cost for the whole industry which will do harm to consumers’ benefits.

The tariff policies’ consequences also reflect on the markets. The latest PMI (Purchase Managers’ Index) survey data from S&P Global Intelligence appeared a deterioration in April, especially in Canada, Mexico, the U.S.,and China. However, slight increases had shown in Eurozone
