On January.28th, lululemon opened the first Chinese menswear-only brick-and-mortar store in Beijing. Based on their recent menswear market share acceleration in China starts 2021, also their announcement of men’s new launch in training shoes in Q1, lululemon is signaling their focus on Chinese menswear market and their aim to thrive in it.

Another market strategy is seen in kids’ active wear. Anta ’s sub-brand DESCENTE also just announced the success of opening the first kids’ outwear-only brick-and-mortar store in Nanjing on January 24th. The store is targeting the high-end kids performance outwear in multiple activities such as skiing, golf, and more.

ZARA released a new jacket entirely made from loopamid, a latest PA6 (also known as nylon 6) developed by BASF from 100% textile waste and the jacket is designed by Inditex.

The Chief Executive Officer of Inditex indicates that this collaboration is aiming to move forward on developing a circular, innovative and sustainable clothing business mode and expanding the ability to use and recycle of the clothing waste in the industry.

The Shanghai Spring Yarn Expo from Mar.6th to Mar. 8th will focus on showcasing the technical innovation and recyclability of yarn fibers to promote sustainable industry development. Forecasts indicate that the synthetic fiber market will reach about $190.4 billion in 2024. Countries in the Asia-Pacific region, led by China, are increasing their adoption of recycled textile products.

Celanese has partnered with Under Armour to develop an innovative NEOLAST™ fiber, which serves as an alternative of elastane.

This new fiber is characterized by strong elasticity, durability, comfort and moisture-wicking properties. Additionally, it features with recyclability and avoids the using of harmful chemicals during the production.

Except for discussing the further application with Under Armour, Celanese also is planning to promote the fiber application for more suppliers to decrease the clothing industry’s dependency on elastane.
