Before planning your business atlas, it’s still better to get to know more details of latest news. Arabella keeps updating them for you this week.

Market Trends Predictions

Stitch Fix (a popular online shopping platform) made a market trend prediction for 2024 on Dec.14th based on an online survey and investigation of their consumers. They identified 8 important fashion trends to focus on: the color of Matcha, Wardrobe Essentials, Book Smart, Europecore, 2000 Revivals Style, Texture Plays, Modern Utility, Sporty-ish.

Arabella noticed that Matcha and sporty-ish might be 2 important trends that easily caught consumers’ eyes due to recent concerns about climate change, environment, sustainability and health. Matcha is a vibrant green color associated with nature and people’s lives. At the same time, the attention on health is leading people to require daily wear that allows a fast switch between work and daily sport activities.

Fibers & Yarns

On Dec.14th, the Qingdao Amino Materials Technology Co., Ltd. successfully developed a fiber recycling technique for blended poly-spandex finished garments. The technology enables the fiber to be recycled as a whole then used in reproduction, completing the recycling procedure of fiber-to-fiber.

Accessories

According to the Textile World on Dec.13th, the YKK’s latest product, DynaPel™, just won the Best Product in the ISPO Textrends Competition.

DynaPel™ is a new waterproof-compatible zipper that uses the Empel technology to achieve water-repellent properties, replacing the traditional waterproof PU film that is typically applied to zippers, which makes recycling the zipper easier and reduces the number of procedures.

Market & Policy

Even if the EU Parliament has issued new regulations that prohibit fashion brands from discarding unsold garments, there are still more problems need to be addressed. The regulations provide a timeline for fashion companies to comply (2 years for top brands and 6 years for small brands). Besides, top brands are required to disclose the volume of their unsold garments as well as provide reasons for their disposal.

According to the Chief of EFA, the defination of”unsold garments”is still unclear, at the same time, the disclosure of unsold garments might potentially compromise trade secrets.
